Amazyahu Rules in Yahudah

1 Amazyahu son of Yuash began to rule over Yahudah in the second year of the reign of King Yahuash of Yashar'AL. 

2 Amazyahu was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Yahushalam twenty-nine years, his mother was Yahuaddin from Yahushalam. 

3 Amazyahu did what was pleasing in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, but not like his ancestor Daud. Instead, he followed the example of his father, Yuash. 

4 Amazyahu did not destroy the pagan shrines, and the people still offered sacrifices and burned incense there.

5 When Amazyahu was well established as king, he executed the officials who had assassinated his father. 

6 However, he did not kill the children of the assassins, for he obeyed the commandment of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH as written by Musha in the Book of the Law: “Parents must not be put to death for the sins of their children, nor children for the sins of their parents. Those deserving to die must be put to death for their own crimes.”

7 Amazyahu also killed 10,000 Adumites in the Valley of Salt, he also conquered Sala and changed its name to Yukthaal, as it is called to this day.

8 One day Amazyahu sent messengers with this challenge to Yashar'AL’s king Yahuash, the son of Yahuahaz and grandson of Yahu: “Come and meet me in battle!”

9 But King Yahuash of Yashar'AL replied to King Amazyahu of Yahudah with this story: “Out in the Labanun mountains, a thistle sent a message to a mighty cedar tree: ‘Give your daughter in marriage to my son.’ But just then a wild animal of Labanun came by and stepped on the thistle, crushing it!

10 “You have indeed defeated Adum, and you are proud of it. But be content with your victory and stay at home! Why stir up trouble that will only bring disaster on you and the people of Yahudah?”

11 But Amazyahu refused to listen, so King Yahuash of Yashar'AL mobilized his army against King Amazyahu of Yahudah. The two armies drew up their battle lines at Bath-shamash in Yahudah. 

12 Yahudah was routed by the army of Yashar'AL, and its army scattered and fled for home. 

13 King Yahuash of Yashar'AL captured Yahudah’s king, Amazyahu son of Yuash and grandson of Ahazyahu, at Bath-shamash. Then he marched to Yahushalam, where he demolished 600 feet of Yahushalam’s wall, from the Aphraim Gate to the Corner Gate. 

14 He carried off all the gold and silver and all the articles from the Temple of  𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, he also seized the treasures from the royal palace, along with hostages, and then returned to Samaria.

15 The rest of the events in Yahuash’s reign and everything he did, including the extent of his power and his war with King Amazyahu of Yahudah, are recorded in The Book of the History of the Kings of Yashar'AL. 

16 When Yahuash died, he was buried in Samaria with the kings of Yashar'AL. And his son Yarubuam II became the next king.

17 King Amazyahu of Yahudah lived for fifteen years after the death of King Yahuash of Yashar'AL. 

18 The rest of the events in Amaztahu’s reign are recorded in The Book of the History of the Kings of Yahudah.

19 There was a conspiracy against Amazyahu’s life in Yahushalam, and he fled to Lachish. But his enemies sent assassins after him, and they killed him there. 

20 They brought his body back to Yahushalam on a horse, and he was buried with his ancestors in the City of Daud.

21 All the people of Yahudah had crowned Amazyahu’s sixteen-year-old son, Uzzyahu, as king in place of his father, Amazyahu. 

22 After his father’s death, Uzzyahu rebuilt the town of Alath and restored it to Yahudah.

Yarubuam II Rules in Yashar'AL 

23 Yarubuam II, the son of Yahuash, began to rule over Yashar'AL in the fifteenth year of King Amazyahu’s reign in Yahuudah, he reigned in Samaria forty-one years. 

24 He did what was evil in the sight of  𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, he refused to turn from the sins that Yarubuam son of Nebat had led Yashar'AL to commit. 

25 Yarubuam II recovered the territories of Yashar'AL between Labu-hamath and the Dead Sea, just as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Yashar'AL, had promised through Yunah son of Amittai, the prophet from Gath-hapher.

26 For 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH saw the bitter suffering of everyone in Yashar'AL, and that there was no one in Yashar'AL, slave or free, to help them. 

27 And because 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH had not said he would blot out the name of Yashar'AL completely, he used Yarubuam II, the son of Yahuash, to save them.

28 The rest of the events in the reign of Yarubuam II and everything he did—including the extent of his power, his wars, and how he recovered for Yashar'AL both Damascus and Hamath, which had belonged to Yahudah, are recorded in The Book of the History of the Kings of Yashar'AL. 

29 When Yarubuam II died, he was buried in Samaria with the kings of Yashar'AL. Then his son Zacharyahu became the next king.
