Ma'ashym (Acts) — 10
Curnalius Calls for Kafa
In Caasaraa there lived a Roman army officer named Curnalius, who was a captain of the Italian Regiment.
He was a devout man, one who fears 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.
About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision a Malak of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH coming in and saying to him, “Curnalius!”
Curnalius stared at him in terror. “What is it, sir?” he asked the Malak. And the Malak replied, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH as an offering!
Now send some men to Yuppa, and summon a man named Simun Kafa.
He is staying with Simun, a tannar who lives near the seashore.”
As soon as the Malak was gone, Curnalius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier, one of his personal attendants.
He told them what had happened and sent them off to Yuppa.
Kafa Visits Curnalius
The next day as Curnalius’s messengers were nearing the town, Kafa went up on the flat roof to pray. It was the sixth hour of the day,
And he was hungry. But while a meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.
He saw the sky open, and something like a large sheet was let down by its four corners.
In the sheet were all sorts of animals, reptiles, and birds.
And a voice came to Kafa, “Rise, Kafa; kill and eat.”
“But Kafa said, “Not so, MASTER! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.”
And a voice spoke to Kafa again the second time, “What 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH has cleansed you must not call common.”
This was done three times. And the object was taken up into Shamaym again.
Kafa was very perplexed. What could the vision mean? Just then the men sent by Curnalius found Simun’s house. Standing outside the gate,
They asked if a man named Kafa was staying there.
Meanwhile, as Kafa was puzzling over the vision, the RUACH Ha'Qadash said to him, “Three men have come looking for you.
Get up, go downstairs, and go with them without hesitation. Do not worry, for I have sent them.”
So Kafa went down and said, “I am the man you are looking for. Why have you come?”
They said, “We were sent by Curnalius, a Roman officer. He is a devout man that fears 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, well respected by all the Yahudym. A Qadash Malak instructed him to summon you to his house so that he can hear your message.”
So Kafa invited the men to stay for the night. The next day he went with them, accompanied by some of the qadash ones from Yuppa.
They arrived in Caasaraa the following day. Curnalius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends.
Immediately Kafa entered his home, Curnalius fell at his feet and worshiped him.
But Kafa pulled him up and said, “Stand up! I am a man just like you!”
So they talked together and went inside, where many others were assembled.
Kafa told them, “You know it is against our laws for a Yahudym man to enter the home of a foreigner, or to associate with you. But 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH has shown me that I should no longer think of anyone as impure or unclean.
So I came without objection as soon as I was sent for. Now tell me why you sent for me.”
So Curnalius said, “Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
And said, ‘Curnalius, your prayer has been heard, and your giving of alms are remembered in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.
Send therefore to Yuppa and call Simun here, whose surname is Kafa. He is lodging in the house of Simun, a tanner, by the sea. When he comes, he will speak to you.’
So I sent to you immediately, and you have done well to come. Now therefore, we are all present before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, to hear all the things 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH commanded you for us.”
Then Kafa replied, “I see very clearly that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH shows no favoritism.
In every nation 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH accepts those who fear HIM and does what is right.
This is the message of Good News for the people of Yashar'AL, that there is Shalum with 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH through 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA who is Ha'Mashyach of all.
You know what happened throughout Yahudah, beginning in Galily, after Yahukanun began preaching his message of baptism.
And you know that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH anointed 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA of Nazarym with the RUACH Ha'Qadash and with power. Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by ha'shatan, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH was with 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA.
“And we Shaliachs are witnesses of all 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA did throughout Yahudah and in Yahushalam. They put 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA to death by hanging Him on an execution stake,
but 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH raised 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA to life on the third day. Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH allowed 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA to appear,
Not to the general public, but to us whom 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH had chosen in advance to be his witnesses. We were those who ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead.
And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA ordered us to preach everywhere and to testify that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA is the one appointed by 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH to be the judge of all the living and the dead.
For 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA is the one all the Nabyms testified about, saying that everyone who believes in 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA will have their sins forgiven through His Name.”
Even as Kafa was saying these things, the RUACH Ha'Qadash fell upon all who were listening to the message.
The Yahudym believers who came with Kafa were amazed that the gift of the RUACH Ha'Qadash had been poured out on the other nations too.
For they heard them speaking in other tongues and they Yadah 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH. Then Kafa asked,
“Can anyone object to them being baptized, now that they have received the RUACH Ha'Qadash just as we did?”
So Kafa gave orders for them to be baptized in the Name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA Ha'Mashyach. Afterward Curnalius asked Kafa to stay with them for several days.
