Barashyt(Genesis) — 36

1 Now this is the genealogy of Asau, who is Adum. 

2 Asau took his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah the daughter of Alun the Hittite; Ahulibamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibaun the Hibite; 

3 And Basamath, Ishmaal’s daughter, sister of Nabayuth. 

4 Now Adah bore Aliphaz to Asau, and Basamath bore Raual. 

5 And Ahulibamah bore Yaush, Yaalam, and Kurah. These were the sons of Asau who were born to him in the land of Canaan.

6 Then Asau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the persons of his household, his cattle and all his animals, and all his goods which he had gained in the land of Canaan, and went to a country away from the presence of his brother Ya'aqub. 

7 For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together, and the land where they were strangers could not support them because of their livestock. 

8 So Asau dwelt in Mount Seir. Asau is Adum.

9 And this is the genealogy of Asau the father of the Adumites in Mount Sair. 

10 These were the names of Asau’s sons: Aliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Asau, and Raual the son of Basamath the wife of Asau. 

11 And the sons of Aliphaz were Taman, Umar, Zaphu, Gatam, and Kanaz.

12 Now Timna was the concubine of Aliphaz, Asau’s son, and she bore Amalak to Aliphaz. These were the sons of Adah, Asau’s wife.

13 These were the sons of Raual: Nahath, Zarah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These were the sons of Basamath, Asau’s wife.

14 These were the sons of Ahulibamah, Asau’s wife, the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibaun. And she bore to Asau: Yaush, Yaalam, and Kurah.

15 These were the chiefs of the sons of Asau. The sons of Aliphaz, the firstborn son of Asau, were Chief Taman, Chief Umar, Chief Zaphu, Chief Kanaz, 

16 Chief Kurah, Chief Gatam, and Chief Amalak. These were the chiefs of Aliphaz in the land of Adum. They were the sons of Adah.

17 These were the sons of Raual, Asau’s son: Chief Nahath, Chief Zarah, Chief Shammah, and Chief Mizzah. These were the chiefs of Raual in the land of Adum. These were the sons of Basamath, Asau’s wife.

18 And these were the sons of Ahulibamah, Asau’s wife: Chief Yaush, Chief Yaalam, and Chief Kurah. These were the chiefs who descended from Ahulibamah, Asau’s wife, the daughter of Anah. 

19 These were the sons of Asau, who is Adum, and these were their chiefs.

20 These were the sons of Sair the Hurite who inhabited the land: Lutan, Shubal, Zibaun, Anah, 

21 Dishun, Azar, and Dishan. These were the chiefs of the Hurites, the sons of Sair, in the land of Adum.

22 And the sons of Lutan were Huri and Hamam. Lutan’s sister was Timna.

23 These were the sons of Shubal: Alban, Manahath, Abal, Shaphu, and Unam.

24 These were the sons of Zibaun: both Ayah and Anah. This was the Anah who found the water in the wilderness as he pastured the donkeys of his father Zibaun. 

25 These were the children of Anah: Dishun and Ahulibamah the daughter of Anah.

26 These were the sons of Dishun: Hamdan, Ashban, Ithran, and Charan. 

27 These were the sons of Azar: Bilhan, Zaaban, and Akan. 

28 These were the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.

29 These were the chiefs of the Hurites: Chief Lutan, Chief Shubal, Chief Zibaun, Chief Anah, 

30 Chief Dishun, Chief Azar, and Chief Dishan. These were the chiefs of the Hurites, according to their chiefs in the land of Sair.

31 Now these were the kings who reigned in the land of Adum before any king reigned over the children of YASHAR'AL: 

32 Bala the son of Baur reigned in Adum, and the name of his city was Dinhabah. 

33 And when Bala died, Yubab the son of Zarah of Buzrah reigned in his place. 

34 When Yubab died, Husham of the land of the Tamanites reigned in his place. 

35 And when Husham died, Hadad the son of Badad, who attacked Midian in the field of Muab, reigned in his place. And the name of his city was Abith. 

36 When Hadad died, Samlah of Masrakah reigned in his place. 

37 And when Samlah died, Shaul of Rahubuth-by-the-River reigned in his place.

38 When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan the son of Achbur reigned in his place. 

39 And when Baal-Hanan the son of Achbur died, Hadar reigned in his place; and the name of his city was Pau. His wife’s name was Mahatabal, the daughter of Matrad, the daughter of Mazahab.

40 And these were the names of the chiefs of Asau, according to their families and their places, by their names: Chief Timnah, Chief Albah, Chief Yathath, 

41 Chief Ahulibamah, Chief Alah, Chief Pinun, 

42 Chief Kanaz, Chief Taman, Chief Mibzar, 

43 Chief Magdial, and Chief Iram. These were the chiefs of Adum, according to their dwelling places in the land of their possession. Asau was the father of the Adumites.
