2nd Kings — 24

1 During Yahuiakim’s reign, King Nabuchadnazzar of Babylun invaded the land of Yahudah. Yahuiakim surrendered and paid him tribute for three years but then rebelled.

2 Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH sent bands of Babylunian, Aramaan, Muabite, and Ammunite raiders against Yahudah to destroy it, just as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH had promised through his Nabyms. 

3 These disasters happened to Yahudah because of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH’s command.  𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH had decided to banish Yahudah from his presence because of the many sins of Manassah, 

4 who had filled Yahushalam with innocent blood. 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH would not forgive this.

5 The rest of the events in Yahuiakim’s reign and all his deeds are recorded in The Book of the History of the Kings of Yahudah. 

6 When Yahuiakim died, his son Yahuiachin became the next king.

7 The king of Mitzraym did not venture out of his country after that, for the king of Babylun captured the entire area formerly claimed by Mitzraym, from the Brook of Mitzraym to the Euphrates River.

Yahuiachin Rules in Yahudah

8 Yahuiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Yahushalam three months. His mother was Nahushta, the daughter of Alnathan from Yahushalam. 

9 Yahuiachin did what was evil in the sight of  𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, just as his father had done.

10 During Yahuiachin’s reign, the officers of King Nabuchadnazzar of Babylun came up against Yahushalam and besieged it. 

11 Nabuchadnazzar himself arrived at the city during the siege. 

12 Then King Yahuiachin, along with the queen mother, his advisers, his commanders, and his officials, surrendered to the Babylunians. In the eighth year of Nabuchadnazzar’s reign, he took Yahuiachin prisoner. 

13 As 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH had said beforehand, Nabuchadnazzar carried away all the treasures from 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH’s Temple and the royal palace, he stripped away all the gold objects that King Shalumah of Yashar'AL had placed in the Temple. 

14 King Nabuchadnazzar took all of Yahushalam captive, including all the commanders and the best of the soldiers, craftsmen, and artisans, 10,000 in all. Only the poorest people were left in the land.

15 Nabuchadnazzar led King Yahuiachin away as a captive to Babylun, along with the queen mother, his wives and officials, and all Yahushalam’s elite. 

16 He also exiled 7,000 of the best troops and 1,000 craftsmen and artisans, all of whom were strong and fit for war. 

17 Then the king of Babylun installed Mattanyahu, Yahuiachin’s uncle, as the next king, and he changed Mattanyahu’s name to Zadakyahu.

Zadakyahu Rules in Yahudah

18 Zadakyahu was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Yahushalam eleven years. His mother was Hamutal, the daughter of Yaramyahu from Libnah. 

19 But Zadakyahu did what was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, just as Yahuiakim had done. 

20 These things happened because of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH’s anger against the people of Yahushalam and Yahudah, until he finally banished them from his presence and sent them into exile. Zadakyahu rebelled against the king of Babylun.
