2nd Shamu'AL (2 Samuel) — 6
Moving the Ark to Yahushalam
1 Then Daud again gathered all the elite troops in Yashar'AL, thirty thousand in all.
2 Daud led them to Baalah of Yahudah to bring back the Ark of 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH, which bears the Name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH Tsaba'ut, who is enthroned between the charubim.
3 They placed the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH on a new cart and brought it from Abinadab’s house, which was on a hill. Uzzah and Ahiu, Abinadab’s sons, were guiding the cart
4 that carried the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH. Ahiu walked in front of the Ark.
5 Daud and all the people of Yashar'AL were celebrating before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, singing songs and playing all kinds of musical instruments lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets, and cymbals.
6 But when they arrived at the threshing floor of Nacun, the oxen stumbled, and Uzzah reached out his hand and steadied the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.
7 Then the anger of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH aroused against Uzzah, and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH struck him dead because of this. So Uzzah died right there beside the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.
8 Daud was angry because the anger of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH had burst out against Uzzah, and Daud named that place Paraz-uzzah (which means “to burst out against Uzzah”), as it is still called today.
9 Daud was now afraid of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, and he asked, “How can I ever bring the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH back into my care?”
10 So Daud decided not to move the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH into the City of Daud. Instead, he took it to the house of Ubad-Adum of Gath.
11 The Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH remained there in Ubad-adum’s house for three months, and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH Baraked Ubad-Adum and his entire household.
12 Then King Daud was told, “𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH has Baraked Ubad-adum’s household and everything he has because of the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.” So Daud went there and brought the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH from the house of Ubad-Adum to the City of Daud with a great celebration.
13 After the men who were carrying the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH had gone six steps, Daud sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf.
14 And Daud danced before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH with all his might, wearing a Kuhan garment.
15 So Daud and all the people of Yashar'AL brought up the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH with shouts of joy and the blowing of rams’ horns.
Michal’s Contempt for Daud
16 But as the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH entered the City of Daud, Michal, the daughter of Shaul, looked down from her window. When she saw King Daud leaping and dancing before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, she was filled with contempt for him.
17 They brought the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH and set it in its place inside the special tent Daud had prepared for it. And Daud sacrificed burnt offerings and Shalum offerings to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.
18 When he had finished his sacrifices, Daud Baraked the people in the Name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH Tsaba'ut.
19 Then he gave to every Yasharalym man and woman in the crowd a loaf of bread, a cake of dates, and a cake of raisins. Then all the people returned to their homes.
20 When Daud returned home to barak his own family, Michal, the daughter of Shaul, came out to meet him. She said in disgust, “How distinguished the king of Yashar'AL looked today, shamelessly exposing himself to the servant girls like any vulgar person might do!”
21 Daud retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, who chose me above your father and all his family! 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH appointed me as the leader of Yashar'AL, the people of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, so I celebrate before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.
22 Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes! But those servant girls you mentioned will indeed think I am distinguished!”
23 So Michal, the daughter of Shaul, remained childless throughout her entire life.
