Bamidbar (Numbers) — 26

The Second Census of Yashar'AL 

1 And it came to pass, after the plague, that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH Dabar to Musha and Alaazar the son of Aarun the Kuhan, saying: 

2 “Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Yashar'AL from twenty years old and above, by their fathers’ houses, all who are able to go to war in Yashar'AL.” 

3 So Musha and Alaazar the Kuhan spoke with them in the plains of Muab by the Yurdan, across from Yarichu, saying: 

4 “Take a census of the people from twenty years old and above, just as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH  commanded Musha and the children of Yashar'AL who came out of the land of Mitzraym.”

5 Rauban was the firstborn of Yashar'AL. The children of Rauban were: of Hanuch, the family of the Hanuchites; of Pallu, the family of the Palluites; 

6 of Hazrun, the family of the Habrunites;  of Carmi, the family of the Carmites. 

7 These are the families of the Raubanites: those who were numbered of them were forty-three thousand seven hundred and thirty. 

8 And the son of Pallu was Aliab. 

9 The sons of Aliab were Namual, Dathan, and Abiram. These are the Dathan and Abiram, representatives of the congregation, who contended against Musha and Aarun in the company of Kurah, when they contended against 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH; 

10 and the Arath (earth) opened its mouth and swallowed them up together with Kurah when that company died, when the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men; and they became a sign. 

11 Nevertheless the children of Kurah did not die.

12 The sons of Simaun according to their families were: of Namual, the family of the Namualites; of Yamin, the family of the Yaminites; of Yachin, the family of the Yachinites; 

13 of Zarah, the family of the Zarhites; of Shaul, the family of the Shaulites. 

14 These are the families of the Simaunites: twenty-two thousand two hundred.

15 The sons of Gad according to their families were: of Zaphun, the family of the Zaphunites; of Haggi, the family of the Haggites; of Shuni, the family of the Shunites; 

16 of Uzni, the family of the Uznites; of Ari, the family of the Arites; 

17 of Arud, the family of the Arudites; of Arali, the family of the Aralites. 

18 These are the families of the sons of Gad according to those who were numbered of them: forty thousand five hundred.

19 The sons of Yahudah were Ar and Unan; and Ar and Unan died in the land of Canaan. 

20 And the sons of Yahudah according to their families were: of Shalah, the family of the Shalanites; of Paraz, the family of the Parazites; of Zarah, the family of the Zarahites.

21 And the sons of Paraz were: of Habrun, the family of the Habrunites; of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites. 

22 These are the families of Yahudah according to those who were numbered of them: seventy-six thousand five hundred.

23 The sons of Issachar according to their families were: of Tula, the family of the Tulaites; of Puah, the family of the Punites; 

24 of Yashub, the family of the Yashubites; of Shimrun, the family of the Shimrunites. 

25 These are the families of Issachar according to those who were numbered of them: sixty-four thousand three hundred.

26 The sons of Zabulun according to their families were: of Sarad, the family of the Saradites; of Alun, the family of the Alunites; of Yahlaal, the family of the Yahlaalites. 

27 These are the families of the Zabulunites according to those who were numbered of them: sixty thousand five hundred.

28 The sons of Ya'asaf according to their families, by Manassah and Alphraim, were: 

29 The sons of Manassah: of Machir, the family of the Machirites; and Machir begot Gilaad; of Gilaad, the family of the Gilaadites. 

30 These are the sons of Gilaad: of Yaazar, the family of the Yaazarites; of Halak, the family of the Halakites; 

31 of Asrial, the family of the Asrialites; of  Shacham, the family of the Shachamites; 

32 of Shamida, the family of the Shamidaites; of Haphar, the family of the Hapharites. 

33 Now Zaluphahad the son of Haphar had no sons, but daughters; and the names of the daughters of Zaluphahad were Mahlah, Nuah, Huglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. 

34 These are the families of Manasseh; and those who were numbered of them were fifty-two thousand seven hundred.

35 These are the sons of Alphraim according to their families: of Shuthalah, the family of the Shuthalhites; of Bachar, the family of the Bachrites; of Tahan, the family of the Tahanites. 

36 And these are the sons of Shuthalah: of Aran, the family of the Aranites. 

37 These are the families of the sons of Alphraim according to those who were numbered of them: thirty-two thousand five hundred. These are the sons of Ya'asaf according to their families.

38 The sons of Banyamin according to their families were: of Bala, the family of the Balaites; of Ashbal, the family of the Ashbalites; of Ahiram, the family of the Ahiramites; 

39 of Shupham, the family of the Shuphamites; of Hupham, the family of the Huphamites. 

40 And the sons of Bala were Ard and Naaman: of Ard, the family of the Ardites; of Naaman, the family of the Naamites. 

41 These are the sons of Banyamin according to their families; and those who were numbered of them were forty-five thousand six hundred.

42 These are the sons of Dan according to their families: of Shuham, the family of the Shuhamites. These are the families of Dan according to their families. 

43 All the families of the Shuhamites, according to those who were numbered of them, were sixty-four thousand four hundred.

44 The sons of Ashar according to their families were: of Yimna, the family of the Yimnites; of Yasui, the family of the Yasuites; of Baryahu, the family of the Baryites. 

45 Of the sons of Baryahu: of Habar, the family of the Habarites; of Malchial, the family of the Malchialites. 

46 And the name of the daughter of Ashar  was Sarah. 

47 These are the families of the sons of Ashar according to those who were numbered of them: fifty-three thousand four hundred.

48 The sons of Naphtali according to their families were: of Yahzaal, the family of the Yahzaalites; of Guni, the family of the Gunites;

49 of Yazar, the family of the Yazarites; of Shillam, the family of the Shillamites. 

50 These are the families of Naphtali according to their families; and those who were numbered of them were forty-five thousand four hundred.

51 These are those who were numbered of the children of Yashar'AL: six hundred and one thousand seven hundred and thirty.

52 Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH Dabar to Musha, saying: 

53 “To these the land shall be divided as an inheritance, according to the number of names. 

54 To a large tribe you shall give a larger inheritance, and to a small tribe you shall give a smaller inheritance. Each shall be given its inheritance according to those who were numbered of them. 

55 But the land shall be divided by lot; they shall inherit according to the names of the tribes of their fathers. 

56 According to the lot their inheritance shall be divided between the larger and the smaller.”

57 And these are those who were numbered of the La'uym according to their families: of Garshun, the family of the Garshunites; of Kuhath, the family of the Kuhathites; of Marari, the family of the Mararites. 

58 These are the families of the Lauym: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Habrunites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, and the family of the Kurathites. And Kuhath begot Amram. 

59 The name of Amram’s wife was Yuchabad the daughter of La'uy, who was born to La'uy in Mitzraym; and to Amram she bore Aarun and Musha and their sister Miriam. 

60 To Aarun were born Nadab and Abihu, Alaazar and Ithamar. 

61 And Nadab and Abihu died when they offered profane fire before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.

62 Now those who were numbered of them were twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and above; for they were not numbered among the other children of Yashar'AL, because there was no inheritance given to them among the children of Yashar'AL.

63 These are those who were numbered by Musha and Alaazar the Kuhan, who numbered the children of Yashar'AL in the plains of Muab by the Yurdan, across from Yarichu. 

64 But among these there was not a man of those who were numbered by Musha and Aarun the Kuhan when they numbered the children of Yashar'AL in the Wilderness of Sinai. 

65 For 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH had said of them, “They shall surely die in the wilderness.” So there was not left a man of them, except Calab the son of Yaphunnah and Yahusha the son of Nun.
