Ma'ashym (Acts) — 18
Shaul Meets Priscilla and Aquila in Corinth
Then Shaul left Athens and went to Corinth.
There he became acquainted with a Yahudym named Aquila, born in Pontus, who had recently arrived from Italy with his wife, Priscilla. They had left Italy when Claudius Caesar deported all Yahudym from Rome.
Shaul lived and worked with them, for they were tentmakers just as he was.
And every Shabbat Shaul was found at the Yahudym congregation, trying to convince the Yahudym and Greeks alike.
And after Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Shaul spent all his time preaching the Dabar of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH. He testified to the Yahudym that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA is Ha'Mashyach.
But when they opposed and insulted him, Shaul shook the dust from his clothes and said, “Your blood is upon your own heads, I am innocent. From now on I will go preach to the other nations.”
Then Shaul left and went to the home of Titius Justus, a non Yahudym who worshiped 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH and lived next door to the Yahudym congregation.
Crispus, the leader of the Yahudym congregation, and everyone in his household believed in 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH. Many others in Corinth also heard Shaul, became believers, and were baptized.
One night 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA spoke to Shaul in a vision and told him, “Do not be afraid! Speak out! Do not be silent!
For I am with you, and no one will attack and harm you, for many people in this city belong to me.”
So Shaul stayed there for the next year and a half, teaching the word of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.
But when Gallio became governor of Achaia, some Yahudym rose up together against Shaul and brought him before the governor for judgment.
They accused Shaul of “persuading people to worship 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH in ways that are contrary to their law.”
But just as Shaul started to make his defense, Gallio turned to Shaul’s accusers and said, “Listen, you Yahudym, if this were a case involving some wrongdoing or a serious crime, I would have a reason to accept your case.
But since it is merely a question of words and names and your Yahudym law, take care of it yourselves. I refuse to judge such matters.”
And he threw them out of the courtroom.
The crowd then grabbed Sosthenes, the leader of the Yahudym congregation, and beat Shaul right there in the courtroom. But Gallio paid no attention.
Shaul Returns to Antiuch of Syria
Shaul stayed in Corinth for some time after that, then said goodbye to the Achk (brothers) and Achuty (sisters) and went to nearby Cenchrea. There he shaved his head according to Yahudym custom, marking the end of a vow. Then he set sail for Syria, taking Priscilla and Aquila with him.
They stopped first at the port of Ephesus, where Shaul left the others behind. While he was there, Shaul went to the Yahudym congregation to reason with the Yahudym.
They asked him to stay longer, but he declined.
As Shaul left, however, he said, “I will come back later, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH willing.” Then he set sail from Ephesus.
The next stop was at the port of Caesarea. From there he went up and visited the Qadash assembly at Yahushalam and then went back to Antiuch.
After spending some time in Antiuch, Shaul went back through Galatia and Phrygia, visiting and strengthening all the believers of Truth.
Apollos Instructed at Ephesus
Meanwhile, a Yahudym named Apollos, an eloquent speaker who knew the Scriptures well, had arrived in Ephesus from Alexandria in Mitzraym.
Apollos had been taught the way of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, and he taught others about 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA with an enthusiastic Ruach and with accuracy. However, he knew only about Yahukanun’s baptism.
When Priscilla and Aquila heard him preaching boldly in the Yahudym congregation, they took him aside and explained the way of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH even more accurately.
Apollos had been thinking about going to Achaia, and the brothers and sisters in Ephesus encouraged him to go. They wrote to the believers in Achaia, asking them to welcome him. When he arrived there, he proved to be of great benefit to those who, by 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH’s favor, had believed in the Dabar.
He refuted the Yahudym with powerful arguments in public debate. Using the Scriptures, Apollos explained to them that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏_YAHUSHA is Ha'Mashyach.
